Man City's Nigerian Captain Scores Twice, Provides Assist In 5-0 Rout Of Tottenham PL2
Published: May 02, 2018
Manchester City's Nigerian striker, Lukas Nmecha was in his inspirational best on Wednesday evening, scoring twice and setting up another for the U23s in a 5-0 whitewash of Tottenham in the final game of the Premier League 2 Division One season at The Lamex Stadium.
The young Citizens were skippered by Nigerian striker, Lukas Nmecha who has been promoted to the senior side while another first teamer, Tosin Adarabioyo was also in the visitors starting XI.
Timothy Eyoma equally starred from the off for Tottenham, Keanan Bennetts was introduced in the second period as was also Tom Dele-Bashiru while Ashinme Kigbu was an unused substitute for City in the game.
It was barely 19 minutes on the clock before Phil Foden played Nmecha in through the left channel and the 19-year old did well to beat Alfie Whiteman with a low drive which deflected in.
Nmecha proved a nuisance for the Tottenham defenders in the final third for much of the encounter and came very close to scoring again in the second period but Spurs goalkeeper, Whiteman tipped his delightful flick onto the post.
But two minutes to time, the highly-rated youngster produced another messi-esque stuff, running onto a threaded pass to emphatically round the goalkeeper who came out of his area before rolling into an empty net to make the scoreline 4-0.
He was not even done though, as there was still time for him to tee up Foden from a quick breakaway to round off the resounding victory.
