Wenger Very, Very Sad Arsenal's Europa League Dream Has DiedArsenal were one game away from reaching the Europa League final but crashed out in the semifinal after losing 2-1 on aggregate to Atletico Madrid at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano on Thursday night.

Speaking post-match, departing manager Arsene Wenger was disappointed that the Gunners were unable to reach the final.

''I’m very, very sad to leave the club with that exit. It takes some time to recover from that, after I will see what I do with myself in the future. I have no plans at the moment,'' Wenger told reporters.

''Congratulations to Atletico, good luck in the final. The winner of tonight’s game is the clear favourite to win the competition.''

The Frenchman added : ''I am like the team, very sad and very disappointed. Even very frustrated, as well, because when you go out of a competition and you had the performances in 180 minutes that we had, it very difficult to take.''

In Wenger's last three games as coach of Arsenal, the North London team will face Burnley, Leicester City and Huddersfield Town in the Premier League.
