Pinnick Proved Right As Leon Balogun Posts Positive Update On Rib Injury
Published: May 04, 2018
Leon Balogun has posted a positive update on his injury after undergoing individual training at his German club Mainz ahead of their Bundesliga match against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, May 5.
Earlier this week, Nigeria Football Federation supremo Amaju Pinnick revealed that he has received assurances from Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr that Balogun will be fit for the World Cup.
It has now been eighteen days since the central defender last played for Mainz in a competitive match and he has confirmed that he's on the final stretch of his recovery process but tomorrow's match against Borussia Dortmund may come too soon.
In a Twitter post, Balogun said : ''Back on track 👟⚽️💥''.
The injury-prone player has made only 14 starts for Mainz in the Bundesliga this term from a possible 32, logging 1,175 minutes and has been on the pitch for 40.8 percent of the total number of minutes played by the club.
Balogun's contract with Mainz will expire on June 30, 2018 and next weekend's fixture against Werder Bremen might be his last match for the Rhineland-Palatinate based club in the Bundesliga, that is if he is passed fit.
