Official : Omar Sowunmi Offered New Deal By Yeovil Town
EFL League Two club Yeovil Town have published their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2017-2018 season, and one of the decisions made was to offer Nigerian defender Omar Sowunmi a new contract.

Born in Colchester to a Nigerian dad and a British mom, Sowunmi has been on the books of Yeovil Town since 2015, scoring 5 goals (7 assists) in 69 matches in all competitions.

The 22-year-old captained Yeovil Town for the first time in his career in their 1-0 loss to Wycombe Wanderers on April 14.

The defender and striker joined Yeovil Town in the summer of 2015 following spells with the Stanway Villa, Ipswich Town, Braintree Town and Lowestoft Town.

On the pitch, Omar Sowunmi has cited ex-Chelsea captain John Terry, Real Madrid's Raphaël Varane and ex-Barcelona icon Carles Puyol as the players he looks up to.

He describes himself as an athletic player, strong and quick, and good on the ball.
