Everton Loanee Faces Uphill Task To Make World Cup Roster After Missing Belgium's Clasico
Published: May 10, 2018It will be a very controversial decision by manager Gernot Rohr and confirm reports that he has close links to DW Sports Management if the German includes Henry Onyekuru on Nigeria's 35-man provisional roster for the 2018 World Cup.
Ahead of Rohr naming the squad on Monday, May 14, Onyekuru and his minders have embarked on a public relations campaign in a bid to sway the decision of the Nigerian Federation and coaching staff as it was erroneously claimed that he was in tiptop condition.
Henry faces an uphill task in his bid to be on the plane to Russia after he was left out of the Anderlecht 18 for their Belgian Clasico clash against Standard Liege at the Stade Constant Vanden Stock on Thursday afternoon.
The attacker has one game left to prove his fitness and this comes up on Sunday against Moses Simon's Gent before Nigeria's provisional World Cup list is made public.
May 22, 2018 will make it five months Henry last played competitively for Anderlecht, and he suffered a serious injury in that game against his old club Eupen.
Standard Liege's Nigeria midfielder Uche Agbo was not available for selection against the Belgian champions as a result of a yellow card suspension.
