Official: Talented Central Defender Signs New Deal With Chelsea
Published: May 10, 2018Chelsea have informed through their official website that promising central defender Richard Nartey has signed a new contract to keep him at the club until the end of the 2018/19 season.
The 19-year-old Londoner would have walked away from Stamford Bridge as a free agent at the end of next month if he was not offered a new contract.
This season, Nartey made ten appearances for Chelsea U23 in the Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy.
The composed ball-playing defender joined The Blues at U9 level, rising through the ranks before making his debut for the U18 team during the 2013-2014 season as a schoolboy.
He has no international representation to date but is eligible to play for his country of birth, England and Ghana.
Richard Nartey helped Chelsea win the FA Youth Cup and U18 Premier League title in the 2016-2017 season.
