Everton Loanee Henry Very Disappointed With Anderlecht After World Cup Snub
Published: May 15, 2018Henry Onyekuru is very disappointed with Belgian club Anderlecht in
the wake of his omission from Nigeria's preliminary 30-man World Cup
roster announced on Monday, May 14.
According to Het Nieuwsblad,
the Everton loanee was also very angry on Sunday evening when he was
axed from Anderlecht's provisional squad against Gent in the playoffs
and told to sit in the stands.
Onyekuru always
claimed to be fit and missed the last opportunity to prove his fitness
to Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr and the Nigerian Federation before
they released the squad list for the mundial.
Anderlecht
and Everton have reached an agreement over the extension of the
striker's loan deal but the player could put off extending his stay in
Brussels now that the Pro League side frustrated his efforts to
represent Nigeria at the World Cup.
In
addition, the former Eupen star does not have a cordial relationship
with Anderlecht manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck who has often criticized him
for not playing to instructions.
He scored ten goals in 28 appearances across all competitions prior to his spell on the sidelines.
