Babayaro Features, Kanu & Taribo West Missing As Chelsea Concede Four Goals Vs Inter
Published: May 19, 2018Former Nigeria international Celestine Babayaro was a half-time substitute as Chelsea Legends were beaten 4-1 by Inter Forever in a charity game staged at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.
Petrescu, Lebouef, Desailly and Le Saux started in a four-man defense for The Blues, with the ex-Three Lions star deployed at left-back.
Di Matteo gave the home team the lead when he lashed a low shot into the net after four minutes but Materazzi scored with a good header to restore parity for the Nerazzurri in the 21st minute and Suazo made it 2-1 just before the break with a strike from close range.
In the second half, Karagounis added a third in the 68th minute before he grabbed his brace with a shot from outside the box on 80 minutes.
Ex-Nigeria internationals Taribo West and Nwankwo Kanu, who were in Inter Milan's 18-man squad when they won the 1998 UEFA Cup, were not involved for the Italian team yesterday.
About 30,000 spectators were in attendance at Stamford Bridge for the charity game ‘In Memory of Ray Wilkins’.
