Nigeria Target Ovie Ejaria Pulls Out Of England Squad Ahead of Toulon Tournament
Published: May 25, 2018Both Liverpool and the English Football Association have confirmed that former Golden Eaglets invitee Ovie Ejaria has withdrawn from the England squad ahead of the upcoming 46th edition of the Tournoi Maurice Revello.
The central midfielder has asked to be left out of the England U21 squad after failing to recover from injury.
Ejaria had been named to the 20-man group along with Chelsea duo Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham, and Manchester City whizkid Lukas Nmecha.
Everton’s Callum Connolly has replaced Ejaria in the squad ahead of their opener against China on Saturday, May 26.
The defending champions will also face Mexico (May 29) and Qatar (June 1) in the group stage.
London-born Ejaria stepped up to the England U21 team after helping the Young Lions win the 2017 Fifa U20 World Cup, where he played three matches.
The 20-year-old made his debut for the U21s in a friendly against Romania in March 2018.
