NFF Confirm Gent's Simon Has Been Forced To Withdraw From Nigeria World Cup Squad
Published: May 28, 2018Gent's Moses Simon will not be included in Nigeria's squad list for the World Cup in Russia next month.
A top Nigeria Football Federation official has confirmed to allnigeriasoccer.com that the winger will not have sufficiently recovered by the time Nigeria play Croatia in their first match on June 16, 2018.
Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr broke the news in Port Harcourt on Sunday during the Super Eagles final workout, which Simon watched from the sidelines.
''Unfortunately, Simon Moses is injured and our medical staff told me that it is at least three or four weeks he is out which means that he will be out of the World Cup if it is confirmed,'' Rohr told reporters.
Simon started four of the Super Eagles five matches they contested on the pitch in the third round of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, plus the home and away games against Swaziland in the second round.
The former AS Trencin star and four players will be axed from Nigeria's preliminary World Cup roster after the friendly against Democratic Republic of Congo.
