NFF Boss Would Be Delighted As Ex-Arsenal Striker Okenabirhie Joins Shrewsbury Town
Published: June 11, 2018Nigeria Football Federation supremo Amaju Pinnick would be delighted with news that EFL League One club Shrewsbury Town have secured the services of Nigerian striker Feriji Okenabirhrie.
What this signing means is that Okenabirhrie can no longer represent England's C Team, for whom he scored four goals in five appearances since debuting in May 2017.
The England C squad consists of players who play outside the top four divisions in England, meaning the former Arsenal youth-teamer will be forced to call time on his career with The Three Lions.
Three years ago, Amaju Pinnick held talks
with Okenabirhie over committing his international future to Nigeria
rather than England.
The Londoner turned out for the youth teams of Arsenal before penning his first professional contract with Stevenage.
He also lists Bedford Town, Farnborough, Cambridge City, Royston Town, Harrow Borough and Dagenham & Redbridge among his former clubs.
Okenabirhie joins Shrewsbury Town on a two-year deal plus option for an undisclosed fee.
