Brian Idowu Reveals Super Eagles Main Target In Russia 2018
Published: June 13, 2018Amkar Perm defender Brian Idowu says the Super Eagles' primary target is to qualify for the last sixteen of the World Cup and he believes the fans are backing the team as they prepare for their World Cup opener against Croatia.
Born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, it is all but confirmed that the versatile left-back will make his competitive debut against the Croats, if the Super Eagles workouts and friendly matches are anything to go by.
''It's clear - everyone has come for the victory in this tournament, the situation will clear up as the tournament progresses,'' Idowu told journalists, including the TASS correspondent in Essentuki.
''We will prepare for the first match with the Croats, depending on the results we will try to leave the group, achieve maximum common goals.
''There is faith and support of the Nigerian people, and we will try so that they can be proud of us. The reception is wonderful, the base is pleasant, everything is in order, the field is good.''
Brian Idowu netted on his international debut against Argentina last November, eight minutes after he came off the bench.
