Official: Promising Goalkeeper Departs Chelsea After Eleven Years
Published: June 15, 2018League of Ireland Premier Division club Sligo Rovers have announced the signing of former England U19 goalkeeper Mitchell Beeney on a permanent deal, with effect from July 1, 2018.
Thus, Beeney, who has penned a deal running until 2019, will bid farewell to Chelsea after eleven years at the club.
The 22-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Sligo Rovers, making 15 appearances in the topflight with four clean-sheets to his name.
Speaking on the deal, the Leeds native told Sligo Rovers official website : ''When I sat down with the manager, he said the offer was there to have my future at Sligo Rovers and it was a no-brainer for me.
''I’ve settled really well here. I hadn’t played this many games in a couple of years and after one or two which I needed to get up to speed, I think it has gone really well.

A product of Gillingham FC, Beeney spent time on loan at Newport County and Crawley Town while at Chelsea.
