Highly-Rated Chelsea Defender Joins Vitesse On Loan, Subject To Medical

Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse are on the brink of announcing the signing of promising Chelsea defender Jake Clarke-Salter, as per reports.

According to Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, Clarke-Salter is joining Vitesse on a season-long loan, subject to passing a traditional medical, which he will undergo on Monday.

Born in London, he was part of the England U20 team that won the 2017 Fifa U20 World Cup in South Korea, and partnered Fikayo Tomori in central defense in the showpiece match of the tourney against Venezuela.

Vitesse will hold preseason training in Austria, where they will face Wolfsberger AC, Shakhtar Donetsk, Arsenal Tula and Lokomotiv Moscow in exhibition matches, and Clarke-Salter will be part of the group.

The center back spent the second portion of last season on loan at Sunderland, and played for League One side Bristol Rovers on loan during the 2016-2017 season.

Clarke-Salter first joined Chelsea in 2006.
