Official : Greece International Defender Pens Long-Term Contract With Arsenal

Premier League side Arsenal have announced the signing of Greece international defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos for an undisclosed fee.

The 30-year-old has signed a long-term contract with the Gunners and joins the London club from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund, where he spent the last five years.

Sokratis numbers Werder Bremen, AC Milan, Niki Volos, Genoa and AEK Athens among his former clubs.

He played for the youth teams of Aiantas Kalamatas and Apollon Petalidiou before turning professional.

For the upcoming season, the defender, who has played 79 times for Greece, will suit up with the number five jersey.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos was part of the Greek squad that beat Nigeria 2-1 at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
