Official: Chelsea Confirm Outgoing Transfer Of First Colombian To Play For Club
Chelsea TV have confirmed the transfer of former Colombia U20 international Joao Rodríguez to Spanish Segunda División outfit CD Tenerife on a season-long loan.

The striker became the first Colombian player in history to sign for the Blues when he was acquired in the 2013-2014 season.

Rodríguez has yet to debut for the Blues at any level due to work permit issues and has enjoyed loan spells at Deportes Quindío, Uniautónoma, Bastia, Vitória, Sint-Truiden, Santa Fe, Cortuluá and Tampico Madero.

The 22-year-old started off his youth career with Colombian club Boca Juniors de Cali.

He was a member of the Colombia squad to the 2015 Fifa U20 World Cup in New Zealand, starring in matches against Qatar, Senegal, Portugal and United States.

Twelve players have been loaned out by Chelsea ahead of the 2018-2019 campaign.
