Liverpool Boss Is Blaming Two Nigerian Players For Not Converting Their Chances In Loss Vs Dortmund
Published: July 23, 2018Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp was frustrated after the Anfield side failed to convert their chances as they suffered a 3-1 defeat against Borussia Dortmund in an International Champions Cup clash in Charlotte on Sunday.
With the scoreboard reading 1-0 Liverpool, Nigerian winger Sheyi Ojo would have doubled the advantage but saw his shot saved onto the bar and Dominic Solanke missed a glorious opportunity to score with a header that went inches wide.
A 25th minute goal from Virgil van Dijk handed the initiative to the Reds but the Germans fightback saw them score through Christian Pulisic (2) and Jacob Bruun Larsen in the second half.
Speaking to the official website of Liverpool, Klopp said : ''The surprise is that we scored the goal in the first half and not in the second half.
''We had two big chances after set-pieces again with Dom Solanke and Joe Gomez. We had a big, big chance with Ojo.
''Daniel was in a few good moments. We had these moments and I liked the football we played there.''
England U20 World Cup-winning duo Sheyi Ojo and Dominic Solanke came off the bench for the start of the second half.
