Official: Liverpool Striker Awoniyi Heads To Gent On Season-Long Loan
Published: July 23, 2018Through a press release published on their official website, Belgian First Division A club KAA Gent have confirmed the signing of Taiwo Awoniyi on loan from Liverpool.
The young striker, who recently extended his contract with the Premier League side, will spend the entirety of the 2018-2019 campaign at the East Flanders club.
Last term, Awoniyi was loaned out to Royal Excel Mouscron and had his most productive season in terms of goals, netting ten goals (seven assists) in 31 games across all competitions.
One of his strikes last season was against Gent on game week 16, while he provided an assist in Mouscron's 3-2 win over his new employer last August.
The Imperial Soccer Academy product has had loan spells with SV Frankfurt (Germany) and NEC Nijmegen (Netherlands).
Nigerian trio Samuel Kalu, Moses Simon and Anderson Esiti are first-teamers at Gent.
