Eagles Coach Rohr To Run The Rule Over 19-Goal Teenage Nigerian Striker Against Bordeaux
Published: August 01, 2018Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr will be among the spectators at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique for Thursday evening's Europa League second qualifying round game between Bordeaux and Latvian club Ventspils, according to reports.
Although Rohr previously represented and managed Bordeaux, the German football tactician will be at the stadium for a scouting mission before he releases his squad list for a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles.
Girondins4ever.com says the Nigeria manager will keep an eye on two Nigerian players from Ventspils, striker Adeleke Akinyemi and winger Tosin Aiyegun.
The 19-year-old Akinyemi was talk of the town in these parts after scoring six goals, including four in one game, in the first qualifying round of the Europa League against Luftëtari Gjirokastër.
Including his 13 strikes in the Virsliga, Akinyemi has tallied 19 goals in all competitions so far this season.
Ventspils have a mountain to climb to secure qualification to the third qualifying round of the Europa League after they were beaten 1-0 in the first leg.
