The Super Eagles Games Ebuehi Will Miss After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury
Published: August 04, 2018Benfica defender Tyronne Ebuehi faces a long spell on the sidelines after suffering a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee.
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed that the right-back will decide when and where to undergo surgery in the next few weeks.
The former ADO Den Haag star will miss up to six months and will not make his debut in the Champions League in 2018 as he has not been named to Benfica's 25-man roster for their third qualifying round tie with Fenerbahçe next Tuesday.
Apart from these two confirmed Champions League games against the Turkish side, manager Rui Vitória will not be able to count on the services of Ebuehi for at least the first 21 games in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, if his rehabilitation goes according to plan.
With a tentative return date set at mid-February, Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr will not invite the fullback for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Seychelles, Libya and South Africa, while he is doubtful for the home leg against Seychelles next March.
Prior to his spell on the sidelines, the Benfica number 23 featured in International Champions Cup matches against Borussia Dortmund and Juventus.
