Official: Chelsea's American International Defender Joins Nantes On Loan

United States international Matt Miazga has become the 23rd player loaned out by Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

French Ligue 1 club Nantes have announced the signing of the central defender on a season-long loan and he is the second American that will wear their yellow and green jersey.

A product of New York Red Bulls, the New Jersey native joined Chelsea in 2016 and is credited with two appearances for the first team.

Miazga spent the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 seasons on loan at Vitesse and totaled 72 appearances for the Dutch Eredivisie side, scoring five goals.

Before becoming cap-tied to the United States, the 23-year-old played for Poland's U18 team and represented the United States youth teams.

For the upcoming season, Matt Miazga will play with the number thirteen jersey at Nantes.
