Chelsea's Nigerian Defender Joins Derby County On Loan, Subject To Medical
Published: August 06, 2018EFL Championship side Derby County are on the brink of announcing the signing of Nigerian defender Fikayo Tomori, as per reports.
Football Insider says Tomori is undergoing a medical at Derby County after agreeing to join on a season-long loan.
The report added that manager Frank Lampard has used his contacts at old club Chelsea to agree the capture of the player for the entirety of the 2018-19 campaign.
The Canadian-born starlet has been on the books of Chelsea since 2005 and made his first-team debut against Leicester City on the final day of the 2015-2016 season, replacing Branislav Ivanović after an hour.
He spent last season on loan at Hull City, playing 26 games in all competitions and providing two assists for the Tigers.
Including Nigeria and Canada, Tomori is also eligible to represent England and was a key member of the Young Lions squad that won the 2017 Fifa U20 World Cup.
The 20-year-old was named Chelsea's Academy Player of the Year in May 2016.
