We start off at the Stadion Karasay (Petropavl), where Kairat were guests to Kyzyl-Zhar in the Kazakhstan Premier League. It ended 3-1 in favour of the visitors with the Ukrainian-born striker of Nigerian descent Aderinsola Habib Eseola opened the scoring in the 15th minute.
The free-scoring striker, who has been capped by Ukraine at U17 level, is the second top scorer in the league with 12 goals from 19 games.
Still in Kazakhstan, Nigeria international Tunde Adeniji scored Atyrau's second goal a minute after the intermission in their 2-0 win over Irtysh Pavlodar.
The former Sunshine Star striker was also on target last weekend against Kaisar Kyzylorda.
In the Japanese second-tier, Nigerian-Japanese striker Ado Onaiwu netted his fifteenth league goal of the season as Renofa Yamaguchi were held to a 2-2 draw by Tokushima Vortis.
Onaiwu, a Japan U23 international, struck in the 16th minute to give his team, Renofa Yamaguchi a 2-1 lead.
Over to the Welsh Premier League, Connah's Quay were very convincing in their league opener, thrashing Llanelli Town 7-0 in an away match at Stebonheath Park with the experienced striker Michael Bakare helping himself to two goals.
With 14 minutes gone, the 31-year-old doubled Connah's Quay's advantage with a fine header and made it 6-0 with a close-range finish in the 66th minute.
In the Azerbaijan Premier League, James Adeniyi netted on his league debut for FK Qabala as they claimed a comprehensive 3-0 win over Sabail.
Adeniyi rounded off the scoring in the 81st minute. The summer signing made his competitive debut for his new employer in a Europa League qualifier against Progrès Niederkorn last month.
