Iwobi Gets Good Ratings In Arsenal Defeat To Chelsea
Published: August 18, 2018
Super Eagles winger Alex Iwobi was handed great ratings by the English press Saturday evening despite the Gunners' 3-2 away defeat to city rivals Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge in head coach Unai Emery's second Premier League game in charge.
Iwobi scored a first half goal to bring score to 2-2 but a late Marcos Alonso goal meant the north London side lost their opening two league games of the 2018/2019 season.
Mirror.co.uk rating of the Nigeria international went thus:
"Iwobi 7. Surprise selection but provided defensive cover on the left wing and scored."
Daily Express wrote:
For Football.London the Nigeria international also deserved a pass mark and was clearly one of the bright sparks for the stuttering side.
"Brought into the side and produced a superb performance on the left side of the attack. He was direct, always attacked the box and pressed Chelsea back. Set up the first goal and scored the second. 8"
Arsenal's next league game is also a London derby against West Ham United.
Now retired Super Eagles star Victor Moses was an unused substitute in the five goal thriller.
