Aftermath of Arsenal Defeat To Chelsea: Iwobi Backs Emery's Style
Published: August 19, 2018
Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi has stated that the club's players are standing by their head coach Unai Emery despite the defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea in their opening two league games of the 2018/2019 English Premier League season.
Iwobi scored one of Arsenal's goals in the 3-2 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday but the Nigeria international in his reaction believes the Gunners will bounce back from the setbacks.
"We enjoy training, everyone is buying into his ideas," Iwobi revealed to BT Sport on Saturday evening.
"It all takes time, a new manager, a new system and the fans and players know that."
"We started shaky, I don't know, maybe we didn't know what to do, but we picked ourselves up and got going," Iwobi stated. "Unfortunately we weren't able to take all our chances."
The Gunners got to level terms with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Iwobi the scorers in a tense first half period.
However Marcos Alonso scored a brilliant goal in the dying moments of the match to deny Nigeria a deserved draw.
"We were on a high. The message was to keep it going, keep our head and don't lose ourselves. We fought hard for him," the Hale End Academy product stated.
