Ex-Super Eagles Star Named In Chelsea Europa League Squad; Three Nigerian Teenagers Eligible
Published: September 05, 2018The governing body for European football, UEFA has published the squad lists for teams participating in this season's Europa League.
Emirates FA Cup winners, Chelsea, have submitted their List A containing the names and jersey numbers of 23 players that will take part in the competition.
The squad is made up of two goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders and five strikers, including former Nigeria international Victor Moses, whose jersey number (fifteen) is unchanged.
Although Chelsea's List B was not published, Nigerian trio Tariq Uwakwe, Jordan Aina and Faustino Anjorin are eligible to play in the Europa League as they are U21 players and have been on the books of the Stamford Bridge outfit for an uninterrupted period of two years.
Moses has been efficient in the Europa League, with 4 goals in 6 matches during the 2012-2013 season, and helped Chelsea reach the final but was an unused substitute in the showpiece against Benfica.
With manager Maurizio Sarri expected to rotate his squad, the 27-year-old is expected to be handed playing opportunities in the Europa League.
Chelsea have been drawn with BATE Borisov, PAOK and Hungarians MOL Vidi in Group L.
