England Call-Up For Leyton Orient's Marvin Ekpiteta, Whose Twin Brother Had Been Targeted By Nigeria
Published: September 25, 2018Leyton Orient central defender Marvin Ekpiteta is poised to make his international debut for the Three Lions after he was selected by England C boss Paul Fairclough for the international friendly with Estonia U23 in October.
The 23-year-old is the only player of Nigerian descent named on the 16-man roster announced on Tuesday.
Striker Fejiri Okenabirhie, who has netted 4 goals in 5 appearances for England C squad, can no longer be selected after joining League One side Shrewsbury Town in the summer.
With 2 goals in 11 appearances in the National League, Marvin Ekpiteta has earned rave reviews for his performances this season and was named Leyton Orient's Player of the Month for August 2018.
Born in Enfield, he started his career at Oxford City and has also represented Chelmsford City, Concord Rangers and East Thurrok United FC in the past.
Marvin's twin brother, Marvel Ekpiteta, was invited to the Flying Eagles squad ahead of the 2013 African U20 Cup of Nations in Algeria.
