Doubts Over Joel Obi's Fitness Pre-Libya As Super Eagles Midfielder Misses Second Straight Game
Published: September 30, 2018There are doubts over the fitness of Joel Obi ahead of Nigeria's 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya next month after he was left out of the Chievo Verona squad against Torino on Sunday.
Chievo Verona coach, Lorenzo D'Anna had named 24 players on the provisional roster prior to today's home game at Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi, with the Nigeria international dropped.
Speaking pre-match, D'Anna admitted that some players in the squad have physical problems taking into account the three games the club will play in seven days.
Obi is not serving a yellow card suspension as he has not been booked in his five games in the Serie A this season.
The former Inter Milan wonderkid was not in the Chievo team beaten 2-0 by Genoa on Wednesday.
Chelsea loanee Ola Aina has continued to flourish in the Serie A as he went the distance for the second successive match in the 1-0 win against Chievo, playing as a left wing-back.
