Skillful Nigerian Winger Nets Winner For Manchester United Youth Team Against Sheffield United
Published: October 05, 2018Manchester United have seen the potential in Nigerian winger Shola Shoretire and have wasted no time in fast-tracking him into their U17 team.
On Wednesday, Shoretire started for the Red Devils, along with striker Mipo Odubeko, in their hard-fought 1-0 win over Sheffield United and he didn't disappoint after netting the game-winner.
In August 2018, the highly-rated teenager, who is comfortably playing as a winger and
striker, was elected the Man of the Match for his impressive display in the final of the 2nd Jockey Club Youth Football Academy tournament in Hong Kong.
Despite his small stature, Shoretire has impressed with his football intelligence, has an eye for a pass and knows when to make forward runs when he is playing as a midfielder.
His development is being monitored by the English Football Association and a call-up to the Young Lions might be in the offing.
Manchester United have a strong fan base in Nigeria but no player of Nigerian descent has played for the first team since the formation of the Premier League.
