Nigeria Football Federation Keeping Tabs On Rio Ave's Kelechi
Published: October 07, 2018Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, Bitrus Bewarang, has said the body has been monitoring the progress of former Plateau United defender Kelechi John who plays for Portuguese Primeira Liga side Rio Ave.
Bewarang who had signed the player from his grassroots club four years ago into Plateau United when he was the General Manager of the Nigerian Champions told allnigeriasoccer.com during an interview in Jos that just as all other Nigerian footballers home and abroad are being monitored, the progress of Kelechi is also being monitored by the technical department of the Federation.
"We have been monitoring all Nigerian footballers home and abroad and we have also put Kelechi on our radar, " Bewarang said.
"We are quite aware he is not a regular in the top division in Portugal but we are also aware he has been a mainstay in the Junior league and that is good enough to consider him for invitation to any of the national teams in the future," Bewarang added.
Bewarang also used the medium to urge Nigerians to support the Super Eagles Technical adviser Gernot Rhor in his quest to build a solid national team saying with the support of Nigerians particularly members of the press, Nigeria would qualify for next year's Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
