Lacazette Beats Iwobi, Two Others To Arsenal Player Of The Month Award
Published: October 10, 2018Alex Iwobi has missed out on Arsenal's Player of the Month award for September 2018 after the results were collated.
The Hale End Academy product had been shortlisted for the accolade following his impressive performances for the Gunners last month.
But the prize went to out-of-favor France international Alex Lacazette, who netted against Cardiff City, Everton and Brentford and bagged assists vs Cardiff City and Watford.
The Frenchman claimed 59 percent of the votes to take home the award, with Iwobi coming fourth behind Lucas Torreira and goalkeeper Petr Cech.
In September, the Nigeria international provided assists in Europa League matches with Vorskla Poltava and Qarabag, and against Watford in the Premier League.
Having started on the bench in his last two games for Nigeria, it will be interesting to see if manager Gernot Rohr names Iwobi in his starting lineup ahead of Moses Simon, Samuel Kalu and Henry Onyekuru for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.
