Rohr Worried About Ekong, Balogun, Aina, Collins Despite Huge Win Vs Libya
Published: October 13, 2018Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has admitted that he is worried about his defenders despite their huge win over Libya on match day three of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Former Watford man Odion Ighalo put the hosts in front in the 4th minute, before striking twice in the second half, then Samuel Kalu made it 4-0 with a brilliant strike in the closing minutes.
Rohr started the game with a four-man defense consisting of William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Jamilu Collins and Abdullahi Shehu, who was later substituted by Chelsea loanee Ola Aina after suffering an injury in the first half.
The German coach has inferred it would have been a different story if the Libyans converted their chances, especially in the first half where they shaded possession.
Speaking post-match, Rohr said : ''This result does not mean we had a perfect game today.
''We had problems defensively especially in the first half and before we play Libya again in three days, we must improve on our weak areas.''
With South Africa routing Seychelles 6-0 as expected, the Super Eagles are the second-placed team in Group E of the AFCON qualifiers with six points, two more than Libya ahead of next Tuesday's clash.
