Onazi Reveals Super Eagles Plan To Tackle Physical Libyans And The Truth About His Injury
Published: October 14, 2018Eddy Onazi arrived at the Super Eagles get-together in Uyo last Tuesday carrying an injury and aggravated the problem on his second day of training with the national team, allnigeriasoccer.com is reporting.
The Trabzonspor midfielder was not involved in the 4-0 rout of Libya and is unlikely to be in the traveling group to Sfax on Monday due to an Achilles-related injury.
''It's quite sad for me. I have been playing with some pains in my Achilles, I have had some pain killers to try to make it not to affect me,'' Onazi explained to Channels Television Sports.
''After the training I had some pains, I just need to rest to avoid surgery. ''
Onazi says the Super Eagles have the personnel to tackle the physical Libyans on Tuesday in the Tunisian city of Sfax.
''We have young players who are doing good in their clubs, we have fast players as well, from the wing, from the attack.
'We have strong physical players, in the midfield we have Ndidi and Etebo. We have Troost, Balogun, we have Ighalo, Iwobi playing as a number ten, we have Kalu from the right, Musa from the left
''We have everything it takes, it is just for us to concentrate and put at the back of our mind how important it is for us and Nigeria. ''
Onazi added that he's sure that the Super Eagles will qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and appealed to the fans to keep backing the team.
