Rohr Hoping To Equal Winning Run But Admits It Will Be Hard To Beat Libya
Published: October 15, 2018Speaking ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya in Sfax, manager Gernot Rohr believes that the North Africans will be difficult to beat, compared to the first leg that they cruised to a comfortable 4-0 win.
Tuesday's game will present the former Bayern Munich defender with a chance to match his best winning run, which is three consecutive victories, since he was appointed coach of the national team in 2016.
Rohr won his first three games in charge against Tanzania, Zambia and Algeria, between September 3, 2016 and November 12, 2016 before his side were held to a 1-1 draw by Senegal in a friendly in London in March 2017.
''Tomorrow’s game will be tougher than the last one,'' Rohr said.
''It’s always difficult to play the same team twice in three days and win both games, but we’re just as motivated and hungry for victory as we were on Saturday.''
Of the fourteen matches played away from home since Rohr took over, the Super Eagles have won six, drawn two and lost six times.
