Nigerian GK Kelechi Shines As Chelsea Are Beaten By Man City In Premier League Intl Tournament Showpiece
Published: October 22, 2018Chelsea U16s lost on penalties to Manchester City in the final of the Premier League International Tournament this past weekend, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
It is understood that Nigerian goalkeeper Kelechi Chibueze was in between the pipes in the final game played at the City Football Academy on Sunday.
The two teams were tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation time, so a penalty shootout was required to determine the winner, and the home team defeated their London opponents 9-8.
According to Chelsea youth-team expert, Chelsea Youth, the Young Blues had a one hundred percent record after three matches in the group stage, beating Valencia, Blackburn and Derby County.
Jamal Musiala, Lewis Bate, Rak-Sakyi, Xavier Simons and Dion Rankine registered their names on the score-sheet for James Simmonds' side.
Kelechi Chibueze is an England youth international and has caps for the Young Lions at U15 and U16 level.
The highly-rated netminder has yet to make his competitive debut for Chelsea U18 team.
