Villarreal On Chukwueze's Maiden Eagles Call-Up: It Underlines The Great Season Winger Is Having
Published: October 31, 2018Spanish side Villarreal have expressed delight that their youth-team player Samuel Chukwueze has been invited to the Super Eagles for the first time in his young career.
The Diamond Academy product will be grateful to coach of the Yellow Submarine, Javier Calleja, for giving him the opportunity to play for the first team, which might have influenced the decision of Gernot Rohr to name the teenager in his 23-man squad list for the games against South Africa and Uganda.
''The Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze has been called up by the senior Nigeria national team,'' Villarreal stated on their official website.
''The call from Nigeria underlines the great season the 19-year-old winger is having with Villarreal B, scoring twice for them last weekend in the 2-1 win over Atlético Baleares.''
Chukwueze has appeared in three matches for Villarreal in the Europa League and could make his domestic debut when they take on UD Almería on Thursday evening.
Manager Javi Calleja has named the Nigerian in the matchday squad for the Copa del Rey Round of 32 first-leg tie which will take place at the Estadio Juegos del Mediterráneo.
