Samuel Chukwueze Nets First Goal For Villarreal Exactly Three Years After Destroying Brazil
Published: November 02, 2018Villarreal were held to a 3-3 draw by Almeria in a Copa del Rey encounter at the Estadio Juegos del Mediterráneo on Thursday evening, with rising star Samuel Chukwueze netting his first goal for Villarreal's first team on his domestic debut.
The Super Eagles invitee is close to being fully promoted to the first team of the Yellow Submarine, having made the match day squad on five occasions from a possible fifteen games this season.
Chema Núñez gave the home side the lead from the penalty spot in the 52nd minute but Villarreal came back with goals from Cazorla and Callejón (OG) making it 2-1.
In the 83rd minute, Chukwueze increased the lead when he outpaced the Almeria defenders before scoring with a powerful strike at the near post but the home side equalized thanks to two headers from Gassama in the closing minutes.
Chukwueze's first goal for Villarreal's main team came exactly three years after he helped the Golden Eaglets thrash Brazil 3-0 in the quarterfinals of the Fifa U17 World Cup hosted by Chile.
Against Almeria, the 19-year-old went the distance for the first time in his Villarreal career.
