Ireland Boss On Michael Obafemi : Southampton Starlet To Decide International Future After Holding Talks With Family
Published: November 12, 2018Ireland boss Martin O'Neill insists there is no pressure on Michael Obafemi to commit his international future to the Republic of Ireland.
Eligible for Nigeria, England and Republic of Ireland, the Football Association of Ireland are in the driving seat to cap-tie the 18-year-old ahead of their two rivals after naming him in the final squad list for their upcoming games in November, one of which is a UEFA Nations League match against Denmark.
''He (Michael Obafemi) is in the squad at this minute,'' O'Neill told reporters on Monday.
''He obviously has decisions to make for his future. You would expect that anyway.
''I think that's something he would obviously discuss with his family.
''So there will be no real pressure on him to make that decison in the next couple of days.''
