Eagles Striker Iheanacho Fires Warning To South Africa : We Want To Take Revenge For That Defeat In Uyo
Published: November 14, 2018Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has disclosed that the Super Eagles are looking forward to avenge their first leg 2-0 defeat to South Africa when both teams meet on Saturday in Johannesburg.
Despite the loss to Bafana Bafana in Uyo, Nigeria are on the brink of qualifying for next year's tournament in Cameroon after winning their last three matches in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
''The first leg is still fresh in our memories. We definitely want to take revenge for that defeat,'' Iheanacho told allnigeriasoccer.com.
''We are much more better now than we were as of the time we played them in the first leg so I am confident we will get a win.''
Iheanacho also went on to back this current crop of Super Eagles players to go on and win laurels for Nigeria.
According to the former Manchester City player, the team is full of potential.
''As you can see, we are getting better and better. We learnt a whole lot from the World Cup, and since then we are improving as a team and also individually.
''Must of us have new clubs, play more often in our club and above all getting better in terms of team cohesion when we play for the National Team.
''It's only a matter of time before we start wining trophies,'' Iheanacho concluded.
Kelechi Iheanacho also urged the fans to continue supporting the team.
