Iwobi, Omeruo, Kalu, Iheanacho, Ezenwa Start As Nigeria Announce Starting XI Vs South Africa
Published: November 17, 2018Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr has announced his starting line-up for Saturday afternoon's 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The German coach has remained true to his methods and opted to repeat the same starting line-up he tested in the last three training sessions ahead of today's game.
After banishing doubts about his fitness, Enyimba star Ikechukwu Ezenwa has the nod to start over Chippa United goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi.
Rohr has made a big call by dropping Chelsea loanee Ola Aina and has included Kenneth Omeruo as part of a three-man defense that also contains William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun.
Bordeaux number ten Samuel Kalu and SC Paderborn 07's Jamilu Collins will occupy the right and left wing-back positions respectively and they are joined in midfield by Arsenal's Alex Iwobi, Hapoel Beer Sheva's Ogu and Stoke City's Oghenekaro Etebo.
Another change with respect to the last game against Libya sees Leicester City's Kelechi Iheanacho start upfront along with captain Ahmed Musa.
Super Eagles Starting XI: Ezenwa, Balogun, Troost-Ekong, Omeruo, Kalu, Ogu, Etebo, Iwobi, Collins, Iheanacho, Musa
