Nigeria Target Ademola Lookman Pledges Future To England Ahead Of 2019 U21 EURO
Published: November 20, 2018Everton star Ademola Lookman has pledged his future to England ahead of next summer's UEFA European Under-21 Championship, according to several reports in the English media.
Though Lookman has been the subject of interest from the Nigeria Football Federation, the winger has assured England U21 boss Aidy Boothroyd he is not about to jump ship.
Gernot Rohr has publicly courted the winger and was looking to add him to the Super Eagles ranks ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
''Every time I see him I have a little joke with him about it. I say: "Why would you want to leave us?" Boothroyd was quoted as saying by Daily Mail.
''But he's very focused on England – that's what he tells me. He says he wants to play international football for England.''
Lookman was a key member of the Young Lions squad that won the FIFA U20 World Cup in South Korea last summer, playing six matches including the showpiece vs Venezuela.
