2018 AWCON Top Scorer Prize : Nigeria's Attacking Trident In Top Four
The race for the top scorer award of the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations is hotting up following the conclusion of the group stage matches on Saturday, November 24.

Former Arsenal frontwoman Asisat Oshoala was the most clinical striker in the last edition held in Cameroon, finishing the tournament with six goals to take home the Golden Boot award.

The Super Falcons star needed only one game to get back in the race, after scoring a treble in Nigeria's 6-0 humiliation of Equatorial Guinea in Cape Coast.

In doing so, she pulled level with Zambia's Racheal Kundananji as the second top scorer, behind South Africa's Thembi Kgatlana who netted the winner against Nigeria, two against Equatorial Guinea and one against Zambia.

Five players are currently tied on two goals apiece : Ajara Nchout (Cameroon), Bassira Touré (Mali), Fatoumata Diarra (Mali), Francisca Ordega (Nigeria), Desire Oparanozie (Nigeria).

Only one player has managed to retain the Golden Boot award since the inception of the tournament, Nigeria's own Perpetua Nkwocha, who scooped the awards in 2002, 2004 and 2006.

A total of 43 goals have already been scored by 31 players with Nigeria having six different scorers.
