Why Chelsea's Aina Was Subbed Out At Half-Time In 3-0 Loss To Manchester United U18
Published: December 09, 2018Ola Aina's sibling, Jordan, had to be substituted at half-time as Chelsea were beaten 3-0 by Manchester United in their final group game of the U18 Premier League Cup on Saturday afternoon.
The former England U16 international started the two previous games in the group against Norwich City and Newcastle United and retained his spot in the starting line-up against the Red Devils at the Aon Training Complex.
Coach Andy Myers lined up his team in a 4-2-3-1 formation at the start of the game vs Manchester United, with Aina starting at right-back.
United led 3-0 at the break thanks to goals from D’Mani Mellor, Di’Shon Bernard and Brandon Williams, which forced the Chelsea coach to change his formation at half-time.
With the Blues using a three-man defense after the interval, Jordan Aina made way for Cameroonian-born defender Dynel Simeu.
Manchester United and Chelsea will meet again in the FA Youth Cup third round on Monday 17 December at Leigh Sports Village.
