Nigerian Midfielder On Target As Chelsea Lose Seven-Goal FAYC Thriller Vs Manchester United
Published: December 17, 2018Defending champions Chelsea lost a seven-goal thriller to Manchester United in the third round of the FA Youth Cup on Monday night at Leigh Sports Village.
The prolific England U18 international Mason Greenwood was the star of the show after scoring a hat-trick for the Red Devils and had opened the scoring in the 9th minute.
Although Chelsea were level before half-time through Tariq Lamptey, they were 4-1 behind after 79 minutes.
Anjorin gave The Blues hope when he pulled one back from the spot with seven minutes left then Redan scored a minute later to make it 4-3 but United managed to hold onto their lead until the final whistle.
Ola Aina's sibling, Jordan, 17, was at Holmes Park on the bench for Chelsea U23s in their Premier League 2 clash against Leicester City, so was unable to make his debut in the FA Youth Cup.
Faustino Anjorin has scored in six different competitions for Chelsea youth teams this season : U18 Premier League, U18 Premier League Cup, FA Youth Cup, UEFA Youth League, EFL Trophy, Premier League 2.
Manchester United's reward for beating Chelsea is a home tie against Brighton & Hove Albion in the next round.
