Arsenal U23 Squad Selection Vs Blackburn Hints At Potential Domestic Debut For Saka Vs Spurs
Published: December 18, 2018Bukayo Saka could be in line to make his domestic debut against Tottenham Hotspur in the quarterfinal of the League Cup on Wednesday evening if the Arsenal U23 squad picked by manager Freddie Ljungberg against Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League 2 is anything to go by.
Four players of Nigerian descent in the shape of James Olayinnka, Tolaji Bola, Tobi Omole and Xavier Amaechi featured against Rovers on Tuesday night but there was no place for Saka, fueling speculation that he is set to train with the first team ahead of the eagerly anticipated clash with Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium.
The England U19 international was part of the traveling party to the South Coast for the Premier League encounter vs Southampton on Sunday, probably as the nineteenth man, and was eventually omitted from the match day squad.
Saka has two appearances for Arsenal's first team to date with both games coming in the Europa League.
The other player of Nigerian descent in contention to make a domestic debut is Tottenham Hotspur starlet Timothy Eyoma.
The England U17 World Cup winning defender was named on the bench when the first team beat Burnley on Saturday and was an unused sub in the fourth round of the League Cup against West Ham in October.
