Catch up on the Nigeria-eligible players that were on target in English Football League matches on Saturday, December 29.

Aston Villa's push for a playoff spot continued at the Deepdale Stadium, where they were held to a 1-1 draw by Preston North End.

Tammy Abraham headed Villa in front on the stroke of half-time but the home team restored parity after an own goal in the 61st minute.

Elsewhere, Derby County beat Norwich City 4-3 in a seven goal thriller at Carrow Road, with Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori getting on the score-sheet for The Rams in the 36th minute.

After conceding two goals in the space of six minutes in the first half, the visitors were back in it thanks to Tomori, who found the net with a thunderous strike.

In the League One, Sunderland's Josh Maja was on target once again in a 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury Town at the Stadium of Light.

The striker was in the right place to turn home McGeady's cross on 44 minutes, taking his tally to 13 league goals and 14 in all competitions in the process.

A division lower, Lincoln City came from behind to claim a 2-1 win against Cambridge United at Abbey Stadium, with John Akinde grabbing a 75th minute winner.

Jabo Ibehre, 35, had given Cambridge United the lead in the 28th minute when he got his head on a cross.

Finally,  Northampton Town and Milton Keynes Dons shared the spoils with a 2-2 draw at Sixfields Stadium.

Former Arsenal starlet Chuks Aneke made it 2-0 in favour of the visitors when he slammed home after a cross was deflected into his path.
