Chukwueze Provides Assist As Villarreal Hold Real Madrid At Home
Published: January 03, 2019
Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze was one of the best players at the Estadio de la Ceramica Thursday night as Villarreal held European champions Real Madrid to a 2-2 draw in the first game of the year 2019 in the Spanish La Liga.
Santi Cazorla scored a brace while Real Madrid scored two headed goals from Karim Benzema and Raphael Varane.
Chukwueze assisted Cazorla's fourth minute goal with a wonderful through ball which the former Arsenal midfield maestro beautifully curled into the far bottom corner and beyond the reach of Thibaut Courtois' hands.
Chukwueze was a menace for the Madrid backline even after Cazorla's strike forcing corners off deflections from Courtois and Sergio Ramos and almost forced an own goal by Varane in the 90th minute.
The nimble footed youngster was object of praises from the match commentators who hope the Yellow Submarine do not let leave the club following interests from some clubs across Europe.
The assist was the Nigerian's fourth of the season in which he has two La Liga goals and two more in other competitions, in the Copa Del Rey and Europa League. He has now played seven league games.
