Lazio Make Huge Announcement On Liverpool's Nigerian-Born Winger Adekanye
Published: January 07, 2019Italian Serie A club Lazio have played down speculation that they have reached an agreement to sign Ibadan-born winger Bobby Adekanye in the summer.
The 19-year-old has entered the final six months of his contract with Liverpool and is stalling on signing a new deal that he has been offered until he gets assurances from the club about his first-team prospects.
It was earlier claimed that Adekanye and his entourage had been negotiating with Lazio since November 2018 and if that's the case, it would be tantamount to tapping up the player.
''In reference to the news released by some media, according to which SS Lazio have found an agreement with the player Bobby Adekanye, the club denies this and announces that it has not signed any contract, nor has it started negotiations for the aforementioned player,'' Lazio wrote on their official website on Monday.
Adekanye, who joined Liverpool in July 2015, includes VV Alphia, Ajax Amsterdam, PSV Eindhoven and Barcelona among his former clubs.
He has made nine appearances for The Reds in the Premier League 2 this term.
