Official : Chelsea Announce Outgoing Transfer Of Central Defender
Published: January 25, 2019Premier League side Chelsea write on their official website that United States international Matt Miazga has joined Reading on loan until the end of the season.
The central defender spent the first half of the season at Nantes but was recalled due to his lack of first team opportunities before his move to the Madejski Stadium.
Miazga joined Chelsea in January 2016 from New York Red Bulls and has made two appearances to date for the first team of The Blues.
Commenting on the deal, Reading Chief Executive Nigel Howe said to the club's official website : ''Having already sourced extra quality in the form of a striker, two midfielders and a goalkeeper this month, I’m delighted that Matt now arrives to bolster our defensive ranks for the final 18 games of the season.
''Committed to our cause, I am confident he will be a real asset to the first team dressing room for the remainder of the 2018-19 campaign.''
Matt Miazga will play with the number 19 shirt during his loan spell with The Royals.
