Awaziem Lands Firmly On His Feet As Rizespor Climb Out Of Relegation Zone On Debut
Published: January 27, 2019Rizespor have climbed out of the relegation zone following their 3-1 win against Akhisarspor on match day nineteen in the Turkish Super Lig.
The game at the çaykur Didi Stadyumu (Rize) did see Nigeria international Chidozie Awaziem make his competitive debut for Rizespor, five days after completing a loan move to the club.
The Porto loanee, who was wearing the number 12 shirt, replaced Aatif Chahechouhe in the 81st minute with the scoreboard reading 2-1.
A minute after the introduction of Awaziem, Prejuce Nakoulma sealed the win, scoring a goal off an assist by former Nigeria U23 international Aminu Umar.
Another new signing, Azubuike Okechukwu understandably did not make Rizespor's match day squad as his transfer from Pyramids of Egypt was confirmed two days ago.
With one point more than seventeenth placed Fenerbahce who play on Monday, Rizespor are provisionally 15th in the standings.
